- It's 1 Cup of green Moong Dal (whole).
- You need 1/2 cup of yellow Moong Dal (split).
- It's 1 of big Onion (finely chopped).
- You need 1 tsp of Mustard Seeds.
- You need 1 of spring Curry leaves.
- Prepare 2 of Dry red chillies.
- It's 1/4 tsp of Turmeric Powder.
- Prepare 3/4 cup of Coconut Milk.
- It's 2-3 of green chillies.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Cumin Seeds.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of Coconut Oil.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Garam Masala.
- You need 1/2 tsp of Lemon juice.
- You need to taste of Salt.
As per Ayurveda, this lentil cleanses the body by removing. Moong dal with coconut cream is South Indian inspired dish. It is known as Parippu in South India but I make with little twist by adding greens in it. - Soak the green Moong Dal in hot water for 1 hour. Then pressure cook it and set aside..
- Now pressure cook the yellow Moong Dal with 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder and set aside..
- Grind 2-3 green Chillies and 1 tsp Cumin Seeds with 2 tbsp of the 3/4 cup Coconut Milk and pour it back to the 3/4 cup and mix well. Set aside..
- Heat 1 tbsp Coconut Oil in a pot. Add 1 tsp Mustard Seeds and let them splutter. Now add the 2 dry red Chillies and give it a quick stir. Then add the chopped Onion and Curry leaves to it. Mix well and saute till Onion turns translucent..
- Add then the cooked yellow and green Moong dal with a bit water and Salt to it and mix well..
- When it starts to boil add the Coconut-green chilli- cumin milk to it and mix well. Let it come to simmer and add 1 tsp Garam Masala and 1/2 tsp Lemon juice. Mix everything well and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes. Green-yellow Moong Dal is ready to enjoy.
