Ingredients of Indian Aloo Methi

  1. Prepare 250 g of Fenugreek Bunch - Methi (Fresh Green plucked and chopped).
  2. Prepare 2 of Potato Chopped (Big).
  3. You need 1 of Onion Chopped.
  4. You need 1 of Tomato Chopped.
  5. It's 7-8 Cloves of Garlic (finely chopped).
  6. You need 2 of Green Chilli (diagonally sliced).
  7. Prepare 3 teaspoon of Mustard Oil.
  8. Prepare 1 teaspoon of Garam Masala.
  9. It's 1 teaspoon of Cumin Seeds.
  10. You need To Taste of Salt.

This aloo methi recipe has a lot of flavor and bitterness of methi (fenugreek) leaves combined with the earthy flavor and taste of potatoes. It is less spiced and a dry vegetable sabzi. Aloo Methi is a simple north-Indian stir fry made with potatoes and fenugreek leaves. In fact, the name of this dish comes from the Hindi words of Aloo meaning potatoes and Methi meaning Fenugreek leaves.

Indian Aloo Methi step by step

  1. Wash the Methi leaves and Potatoes and keep it aside.
  2. Take a cooking pan and put it on flame. Add 2-3 spoons of Mustard Oil and allow it to heat.
  3. Add Cumin Seeds in hot oil and wait until it starts crackling. Add green chillies and garlic one by one and stir for few secs.
  4. Add Onion and stir till it turns light brown. Once they look brownish add the Tomatoes and stir for another 3-5 mins.
  5. Now add the chopped Potatoes and mix it well... Put the pan lid for 5 mins to let it steam cooked.
  6. Add the Fenugreek leaves now... Add Salt to taste... Mix it well... Leave it on low flame till it's cooked and dry... Keep on stirring at some intervals to save it from sticking to the pan bottom.
  7. A DELICIOUS Aloo -Methi with pure Indian taste is ready now... Sprinkle few fresh Coriander leaves and serve it hot....
