I called it Majjige Huli, My husdand said it tasted like Kadhi, my daughter said it was some kind of sauce eaten with Nicchina Unde. So, finally I decided I will say this is Kadhi Madhwa Style since it has the basic ingredients we use for Majji Huli minus the vegetables.   1. Prepare 4 of servings.
  2. It's 2 tablespoons of Besan(gram flour).
  3. It's 1/2 of cup(125g) khati dahi.
  4. You need 1 of medium sized, chopped tomato.
  5. Prepare 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric powder.
  6. It's 15-20 of curry leaves.
  7. Prepare 2 of chopped green chillies.
  8. You need 1 pinch of asafoetida.
  9. You need 1/2 tablespoon of salt or as per taste.
  10. You need 1/2 tablespoon of mustard seeds(rai).
  11. It's 1/2 tablespoon of methi seeds.
  12. You need 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh coriander leaves.
  13. You need 2 tablespoons of oil.
  14. You need 1 tablespoons of garom masala.
  15. It's 1 tablespoons of ginger paste.
  16. It's 1 tablespoons of red chilli powder.

This was the majjige Huli or Kadhi I. I grew up eating Punjabi style kadhi (and I shall share the recipe of it soon too) which is so different from this Gujarati kadhi. Both the versions have besan and yogurt but they taste very different. Punjabi Kadhi is spicy, tangy and often served with pakora (fritters).

  1. All together ingredients....And paste the ginger....
  2. Take a bowl cup of yogurt and turmeric powder,red chilli powder,besan.,...Add some water, mixed it in bowl..
  3. Heat a pan.add 2 tablespoons oil. Add hing asafoetida. Add mustard seeds,10/11 curry leaves. Let it crackles. Add methi seeds (sauf),green chilies,salt and 10 curry leaves..
  4. After adding chopped tomato,ginger paste.add garam masala and turmeric powder.Mix it well..
  5. Now add besan and curd batter in the pan.mix it well. Add 2 cups water or adjust the consistency as per your choice..
  6. Cook(boil) it for 5-6 minutes.Keep stirring in between..
  7. At last, add chopped fresh coriander leaves and another fried remaining curry leaves. Kadhi is ready to serve..
