Recipe: Tasty Pancake Base

Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Pancake Base. Whether I am mixing up a healthy pancake batter, grabbing a healthy muffin on the go, or warming up an egg cup, I make sure I always have healthy breakfast options on hand! I'm new to cooking and rely heavily on basic foods which simply need cooking in an oven (You get the general idea). This was my first time preparing food from ingredients and although simple it will allow for more additions for flavour and experimentation.

Pancake Base

My pancake & waffle base mix has this in it: Flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt. In addition to the long list of ingredients for a mere pancake mix, hydrogenated oils is listed. For those unfamiliar with hydrogenated anything, it's a cheap ingredient food companies use. You can have Pancake Base using 5 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Pancake Base

  1. You need of Pancakes and cooking.
  2. It's 3 tbsp of Plain Flour.
  3. Prepare 2 of eggs.
  4. It's 1 of Milk (Of your choice).
  5. Prepare 1 of olive oil.

Once you taste these homemade pancakes, I think you'll agree they're much better than the boxed kind! Add a bit of vanilla or fruit (frozen blueberries work well) to make them extra special. If you want, mix up the dry ingredients in advance and give it away as a gift (with instructions on how to finish making the pancakes) or just store it for even quicker pancakes. Made of fruit (traditionally cherries) baked in batter, clafoutis can be prepared within minutes when you use pancake mix for the base of the batter.

Sure, it's not the traditional French way, but it sure is easy. Scones Know what's great about scones? Well, a lot; they're a beloved breakfast staple for good reason. The pancakes were fluffy, and mouth watering, and tasty, and soft. The only change I made was adding an extra quarter of a cup of milk because I like the pancakes to be a little thinner and when I mixed the batter up I saw they'd be too thick.
